The vision of the Society is to become a center of excellence for professional development of private university academics in teaching, research and academic leadership, to contribute to the enhancement of quality higher education and to participate in national development in line with Bangladesh Government priorities within the broader framework of the global goal like Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mission

The mission of the society is to become a premier professional development platform for private university academics; to maintain strict code of conduct for professional excellence and integrity; to act as a springboard for ideas, unity, empowerment, leadership and innovation in all disciplines across the private universities, and to create knowledgebased collaborations among all the stakeholders for quality higher education, and education sector, as a whole.

Objectives and Functions

The objectives for which the Society is established are as follows:

  • Become an effective partner in development as a professional body of private university academics in terms of contribution with ideas, knowledge support, and engagement in line with national priorities, and global priorities like Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Arrange flagship events on higher education and private university (self-funded) sector development like ‘state of private university education and higher education in Bangladesh’
  • Publish one or more academic journals and other publications on private university sector, higher education sector, and multidisciplinary knowledge.
  • Arrange seminars, webinars, round-tables, dialogues etc. on social and national development issues like education, health, environment, climate change, budget, governance, corporate social responsibility, citizen engagement, and so on.
  • Arrange workshops and training programs for faculty development in teaching, learning, research, and academic administration.
  • Engage students in various programs in variety of ways, for their career guidance and development, psychological wellbeing, and for making them better and informed citizens with and positive attitude.
  • Act as a technical body for continuing professional development (CPD) of the private university academics, and to remain as social, non-partisan, and non-political professional development platform of professionals of private universities in Bangladesh.
  • Help and motivate the faculty members of the private universities for doing research, publications of journal papers, books, and other scholarly outputs, and for availing the opportunities available nationally and globally.
  • Serve for welfare of the members of the Society by generating financial and non-financial support.
  • To provide support to the students of private universities in terms of knowledge, skill, and employability.
  • To explore, crate and extend necessary co-operations for internationalization, develop international network with scholarly community for research and knowledge sharing
  • To coordinate with different stakeholders like the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission, other relevant regulatory and monitoring agencies, Association of PrivateUniversities of Bangladesh and Trustees, accreditation authorities and other relevant bodies for the betterment of and enabling environment for tertiary education in Bangladesh.
  • To suggest policy and strategic issues to the controlling bodies of the private universities in Bangladesh to develop a quality professional category of academics, and standard professional service rules and norms.
  • To attract grants, donations, assistance from the individuals and bodies for the professional development and social welfare of private university faculty members, subject to approval of the Government bodies, where applicable
  • To develop inter-personal relationship among the private university faculty members by organizing various social and cultural events for the private university faculty members and their family
  • To perform any other act or acts as may be deemed fit under the purview of the objectives of the Society and decisions of the Executive Council.
